Hay guys!
How have you been? How has the job hunting process been? Guess whose birthday it is in 5 days time!!

I recently shared here my Job Hunting experience in 2022 if you have been following my blog posts for a while, you are probably wondering why I am hyped up about LinkedIn? Well, it is a mine gold for job hunters!
LinkedIn has over 700 million followers including CEOs, recruiting managers and assistants, talent outreach specialists, professionals and job hunters think of it as a bank where recruiters find candidates to fill roles. Recently Influencers on Linkedin have been on the rise and some are getting brand ambassador contracts all from their LinkedIn platforms, how cool is that!

In this post, I will be sharing the basics about LinkedIn and what you need to know to get started.
1. Sign Up
Signing up is as easy as ABC you only need an email address and a password, you can choose to sign up with your Google account or with Facebook. Be sure to confirm your email address.
2. Optimize your Profile
Think of your profile as your resume, when you connect with people or they check your profile this is the first thing they will check about you, your profile. For example, the about section, think of it as your selling point.
What industry do you have experience in?
what industry or role are you targeting?
what skill set or how many years of experience do you have?
what career path would you like to take?
By default, LinkedIn will use your job title as your headline unless you customize it. Make sure to include a profile picture preferably a professional one ( must not be a passport photo) choose a photo of you that looks inviting a smile would not hurt.
Fill in your experiences, licenses, certificates and education
3. Open to Work
Be sure to select the open to work option if you are currently looking for work ( this would be visible to anyone who comes to your profile or connections).
4. Connect
After your profile has been optimized it's time to get to work. Connect to as many people as you can in the industry you would like to work in. Some might ignore you, others might not that's why you connect to as many as you can that you know would benefit you. So who should you target?
Companies or organisations you are interested in you can follow the organisations and people in that company you think you can benefit from.
Recruiters and Hiring managers connect with as many as you can, in industries, you would like to work in.
Job title, search for people with the job titles you are targeting and connect with them so you can learn from them.
It's important that after you connect and they accept your invitation, send them a message, reach out to them. Engage with posts you find interesting or useful by liking, commenting or sharing the posts.
I will be sharing more on optimizing your LinkedIn profile in my next blog post.
If you found this helpful or useful, please share, like and comment if you have questions or contributions.

I am still rooting for you!
